Eliminate an Inefficient Wrapping Method
Unsatisfactory load containment = damaged product = unsatisfied customers
"The finished product is awesome!" --Distribution Center Manager
A large regional grocery distribution center wrapped an average of 600 to 750 order-picked loads each day — by hand! As a result, load containment did not satisfy their needs and customers were receiving damaged product.
To improve this key factor (as well as phase out an inefficient wrapping method), the center stationed four Lantech S-300XT stretch wrapping machines side by side in their docking area so that they could wrap loads simultaneously, as well as guarantee the proper containment force for each load.
Since implementing this four-station layout, plant flow and productivity has increased dramatically. Hand-wrapping has been eliminated entirely, and the consistent load containment ensures that the product is delivered "as shipped." No operator involvement is required, as the S-300XT's Simple Automation™ attaches and cuts the film automatically. With the remote START lanyard switch, the operators don't even need to get off their forktrucks.
